The special 40th Birthday exhibition, "Defend & Inspire", toured 10 venues around the nine counties of Ulster throughout 2008 demonstrating the cultural and economic potential that exists in our built heritage. The dates and venues can be printed here.

Environment Minister Arlene Foster MLA launched the exhibition in the Long Gallery at Stormont on 8th November 2008. She said of the Society, "..we need an active and engaged group of citizens to ensure that the threats which the built heritage faces and the benefits it offers are firmly placed in the public mind." She added that the Society's work monitoring and commenting on planning applications, "has provided an invaluable service to the wider community by helping to engender public discussion and debate."
