Heritage Angel Awards: Information Events!

From 26th July the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society will be out, across Northern Ireland, helping you to find out all about the Heritage Angel Awards Northern Ireland. UAHS will be supported at these events by our funder and partner, the Department for Communities.

The Heritage Angel Awards, is an exciting new project for Northern Ireland, launched in June. The annual awards aim to celebrate unsung angels of local heritage. For example, individuals and communities who have rescued an historic building, completed heritage projects, worked as craftsmen or apprentices, or recorded and interpreted a historic place. www.heritageangelawards-ni.org.uk

Wednesday 26th July: Cookstown, Burnavon Theatre, 10.30-12.30

Thursday 27th July: Banbridge, Old Townhall, 10.30-12.30

Friday 28th July: Antrim, Antrim Gardens, 11.00-1.00

Friday 4th August: Enniskillen, Enniskillen Museum, 2.00-4.00

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION OR NOMINATION 15TH AUGUST 2017.

 

Award Categories include:

-Best Rescue of an Historic Building

-Best Contribution to a Heritage Project by Young People

-Best Craftsman or Apprentice on a Heritage Rescue or Repair Project

-Best Rescue, Recording or Interpretation of a Historic Place

Already in operation in England and Scotland, this is the first time that the awards will be celebrated in Northern Ireland. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday 7th November at the Grand Opera House Belfast. Northern Ireland winners will then join England and Scotland at a UK awards ceremony in London on 20th November 2017.
