INFO FLASH - UAHS PHOTOGRAPHS ON DISPLAY AT PLACE

The UAHS, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, has created the Behind Closed Doors photographic display at weePLACE showing a wonderful array of doorways that offer a tantalising glimpse of the richness and variety of historic buildings in Northern Ireland that are considered to be ‘at risk' from disuse or disrepair. All of the buildings featured are currently on the Built Heritage at Risk Northern Ireland Register.

The display runs from Thursday 3rd - Saturday 26th September in PLACE at 40 Fountain Street, Belfast. It accompanies a much larger and extremely interesting exhibition of photographs by James Hughes entitled Spectres of Place - Three Decades of Ulster Interiors.

Andrew McClelland, Heritage Projects Officer at the UAHS, will give a brief talk in PLACE on Friday 11th September at 1.30pm about some of the buildings behind the doors in the current weePLACE exhibit - their past, current status and possible future redevelopment. Admission is free but booking in advance is recommended - email info@place.uk.net or call PLACE on 028 9023 2524.

A fuller explanation of the Behind Closed Doors display can be read here.
