Threat of Urgent Works Notice works!
The Society has been pressing for many years for enforcement tools to be used to arrest the decline of a very important group of buildings on Upper Crescent in south Belfast. This very fine listed mid 19th century stucco end of terrace trio is located within the Queen's Conservation Area and has been on the Built Heritage at Risk register since 1999.
We are pleased to report that the threat of an Urgent Works Notice has now proved effective, with the owner carrying out basic repair work and securing the buildings.
It is hoped this welcome action will lead to the buildings being re-used to make a positive contribution to this once elegant residential area.
