Restoration
It is advisable to contact the Northern Ireland Environment Agency if you are embarking on the repair or restoration of a listed building.
General advice, technical notes and contact details can be found on their website. The same principles of care and repair apply to most historic buildings so have a look at their site even if your building is not listed.
The Society has become increasingly aware of the need to provide down to earth advice on care and repair and to encourage this approach to buildings. Whilst our Home and Dry events and website are designed to plug this gap please note we can only offer general guidance on restoration and planning matters.
The Directory of Traditional Building Skills is a useful resource guide and can be downloaded here.
Hearth is the practical arm of the Society. It has demonstrated the art of the possible time and again through its inspirational projects across Northern Ireland. See how they do it at www.hearth-housing.org.uk
