Richhill Castle and The Armagh Club

The historic village of Richhill has recently undergone extensive restoration within its Conservation Area. During our visit we will have the opportunity to see how formerly redundant buildings have come back into use and find out how the townscape has been enhanced whilst retaining the village’s intrinsic character.

Part of the morning will be spent at Richhill Castle where we will see the conservation and restoration work currently underway.

We meet for coffee at 10.30 am in The Square (BT61 9PP), opposite St. Matthew’s Church.

At 1pm we will meet at The Armagh club, 33 Upper English Street ,Armagh (BT61 7BA) where a soup and sandwich lunch will be provided. At the club we will hear from Keith Gilmour, Conservation Architect, who is leading a Heritage Lottery-Funded regeneration project in Armagh to restore and enhance the historic streetscape. Afterwards there will be a guided walk round the areas included in the project.

The afternoon concludes with tea, with the visit ending at approximately 3.45 pm.

The cost of the visit is £25 and includes refreshments. Places are limited to 30 due to the small size of some of the buildings on our itinerary.. Please note that the trip will involve a lot of walking and suitable footwear is advised.
